Why restrict airline hand luggage?
I travel several times a year and, recently, the airlines (I use Easyjet) insist on a single piece of hand luggage – including handbags for women. Now, if this was a major issue, but once through controls security, you can buy whatever you like in duty free shops and therefore carry out a pile of bags! This is another way for airlines to make money, ie £ 15 extra for checking in bags on departure day?
It is mainly for security. When everybody carries a suitcase wheels on the plane, is much more difficult to check each one carefully, and much easier for someone to smuggle dangerous items on board.
